Abstract:

The purpose of this study was to review the characteristics of collaboration and co-authorship NETWORKS of Iranian researchers in the field of LIBRARY and information science (LIS). This was a systematic review. The research population consisted of articles that have studied the scientific collaboration NETWORKS of LIS with social network analysis (SNA) method. Articles were retrieved from the science edition and social science edition databases of ISI Web of Science (maintained by Clarivate Analytics), Scopus (provided by Elsevier), Irandoc (Iranian Research Institute for Information Science and Technology), Magiran, and the SID (Scientific Information Database), Civilica Scientific Database, and ISC (Islamic World Science Citation Database). The inclusion criteria were to study the Iranian co-authorship NETWORKS with micro and macro indicators. The time and language constraints were not applied to the data selection. Studies from the SNA for words co-occurrence in LIS vocabulary were excluded. PRISMA was used for the data selection process and JBI's Critical Appraisal Tool was used to assess the data quality. The findings of the study showed that density of co-authorship network in LIS articles is low and the universities of Iran, Tehran and Shiraz are more centralized and closer than other universities in the network. This study suggests Iranian researchers in the field of LIBRARY and information science increase their scientific collaboration in their scientific production at national and international levels.

Abstract:

We address the throughput maximization problem for downlink transmission in DF-relay-assisted cognitive radio NETWORKS (CRNs) based on simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (SWIPT) capability. In this envisioned network, multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) relay and secondary user (SU) equipment are designed to handle both radio frequency (RF) signal energy harvesting and SWIPT functional tasks. Additionally, the cognitive base station (CBS) communicates with the SU only via the MIMO relay. Based on the considered network model, several combined constraints of the main problem complicate the solution. Therefore, in this paper, we apply heuristic guidelines within the convex optimization framework to handle this complexity. First, consider the problem of maximizing throughput on both sides of the relay separately. Second, each side progresses to solve the complex problem optimally by adopting strategies for solving sub-problems. Finally, these optimal solutions are synthesized by proposing a heuristic iterative power allocation algorithm that satisfies the combinatorial constraints with short convergence times. The performance of the optimal proposed algorithm (OPA) is evaluated against benchmark algorithms via numerical results on optimality, convergence time, constraints’ compliance, and imperfect channel state information (CSI) on the CBS-PU link.

Abstract:

The aim of this article is to study the information infrastructure of governmental banks in Tehran city to suggest an information network for them. The relevant libraries were studied with respect to equipments, resources, personnel, and, cataloguing, classification and retrieval system. This research as a descriptive- applied study, has used survey method for which the required data were collected by a checklist. Research population included libraries of 12 governmental banks situated in Tehran city that are active in subject areas like Economics, Money and Banking. Results of the survey revealed that target libraries are in different levels in terms of strengths and weaknesses. The main problems in these libraries are shortage of space, shortage of specialist personnel and varied organizational positions. Also, some of them have rich collections while others don't. To solve these problems and make provisions for effective use of resources and information' services, it is suggested to establish an information network for these libraries. Considering conditions and situations of the libraries, the most suitable topology for the proposed network is a compound topology in which some network functions like bibliographic control, referral services and educational services are performed as centralized by the Central Bank LIBRARY, and some other functions such as current awareness services and interLIBRARY loan, will be rendered as decentralized by each LIBRARY. Also, some suggestions are made for extending the network services.

Abstract:

Different types of contact, including contact between node pairs, any-contact of nodes, and contacts of the entire network, are used to characterize social relations in mobile social NETWORKS. Different modes of routing, from the point of view of message delivery semantics, encompass unicasting, multicasting, any-casting, and broadcasting. Studies have shown that using probability distribution functions of contact data, which is mainly assumed to be homogeneous for nodes, improves the performance of these NETWORKS. However, there exists an important challenge in studies on distributions. A lot of works apply the distribution of one type of contact to other types. Hence in routing applications, it causes to use of the distribution of one type of contact for any mode of routing. This study provides a complete solution to model each type of homogeneous contact data distribution and to use them in different modes of routing. We propose a routing algorithm that uses this new model. Results show that our solution improves the average latency of comparing methods Epidemic, TCCB, and DR about 3.5-times, 30%, and 45%, respectively. It achieves a delivery rate of about 5% and 6%, and average latency about 6% and 8% better than that of DR and TCCB, respectively.

Abstract:

Introduction: Specialists and researchers need to recognize the tagging behavior of users to improve their systems, design new systems, and create useful interfaces. So far, Iranians' tagging behavior has not been investigated, while these users have a lot of activity in social media, especially social NETWORKS regarding tagging; therefore, this study aims to identify the tagging behavior of members of public libraries of Kermanshah, Iran on Instagram social network. Methodology: This research has been done in a qualitative cognitive approach and the method is the content analysis. Data was gathered with a deep interview technique. Participants were members of public libraries of Kermanshah in autumn 2017. Sampling was done in a purposeful method and continued up to data saturation. Data gathering was done at the same time with data gathering. Findings: The analysis of interviewing data caused the formation of 84 concepts that were categorized into 25 sub-categories and finally classified into 7 main categories, including tagging incentives, decision making, tagging strategies, type of tags, structuring, measurement and difficulties of tagging, all indicating the different aspects of tagging behavior of the LIBRARY members. Conclusion: The results of the research indicate that the individual enters the process of decision-making by looking for his/her motives, then comes on with strategies and determines a number of tags and adds a structure to it according to the social network. Then, the accuracy of the writing item and its structure and the effectiveness and efficiency of the tags will be assessed and take a corrective action a few days after the dissemination of the item, if necessary. In each of these stages, a person faces difficulties that may be due to network constraints or requirements, or the individual him/herself faces challenges and problems based on his/her own goals and motives, and his/her level of skill and experience in tagging, or because of the diversity in vocabulary in terms of semantics and the like, faces problems and difficulties. These 7 aspects of tagging behavior are not entirely independent of one another, even with an overlap in parts.

Abstract:

Objective: This study aims to investigate the LIBRARY anxiety of students, and the effect of LIBRARY skills instruction and LIBRARY tours on decreasing their LIBRARY anxiety.Methodology: The population of study- which conducted using the “pretest-posttest” experimental method- was 75 first year students at the University of Malaya, a research-intensive university in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. First, the levels of students’ LIBRARY anxiety were investigated using a revised version of the Bostick’s LIBRARY Anxiety Scale. Then, study participants were divided into three groups: first group participated in educational LIBRARY skills instruction sessions; second group participated in LIBRARY tours without attending in LIBRARY skills instruction sessions; and students in the third group neither participated in LIBRARY skills instruction sessions nor LIBRARY tours.Findings: The levels of participant’s LIBRARY anxiety were investigated using the same instrument after two weeks. Findings of the study revealed that although there were no statistically significant differences between pre-test of three groups, the levels of LIBRARY anxiety among the students in the second group were statistically significantly decreased. On the other hand, students in the second group reported to have experienced lower levels of LIBRARY anxiety after participation in LIBRARY skills instruction sessions, but not at a statistically significant level.
